Silver Angels for the Elderly (SAFE) rolled out their 2nd annual Classic Car Poker Run on Saturday, September 19th at Hayden Eagles Lodge. Thank you to all who could join us!

This special fundraiser featured 27 classic car models ranging from a Model A to a GTO.  The jazzy cars paraded by six eldercare facilities where the drivers picked up their cards: Garden Plaza , North Star Retirement Community, Ivy Court, Bestland Senior Living, Brookdale Assisted Living, and Prairie Run Senior Apts.

The residents were thrilled to feel the roar of cars from their bygone days, bringing back so many fond memories as evidenced in the video links above.

The $3000 raised will help support our ongoing birthday present ministry along with other events that let our isolated seniors know that they are loved and cherished.

Drawing more than 80 Poker Runners and car enthusiasts, the event also offered a flashy car show, Canfield Blues Band, D-Bess food truck, raffles, silent auction, and party games.

Event participants have often said our fundraiser brings them as much joy as it does the senior residents and look forward to coming back again next year.

Volunteers had fun decorating the lodge with fifties-themed props as well as providing entertainment with photo booth, games, and prizes.

Our dedicated “Angels” were essential to our success. Thank you, Wendy Werner, Peggy Lemm, Karen & Rich Gardy, Kersten Brinkworth, Sandy Johnson, Reina Moore, EnzoSan Juan, Laurie Taylor, Trena Tuppan, Steve Lawry, Walt Cole, and to those who jumped in to help.

We are so grateful for our generous sponsors and donors! Please click on the posters to see our benefactors.
